Queensland's Chief Medical Officer says the peak of COVID-19 hospitalisations is projected at the end of the month as the state recorded 15,962 cases and its deadliest day since the start of the pandemic.
Chief Medical Officer John Gerrard said there are currently 819 patients with COVID-19 in hospital - which is a"substantial increase" from 702 patients on Monday."Clearly the numbers are going up, there's no question about that, and that is what we've been predicting," he said.

Of the 16 fatalities, three people were aged in their 70s, eight were in their 80s, four were in their 90s and one person was aged over 100.Sadly, we have reported 16 deaths in the past 24 hours.
