Queensland Premier Annastacia Palasczcuk decided to scrap some of the last remaining COVID-19 restrictions in the Sunshine State following advice from Chief Health Officer John Gerrard.

But mandatory COVID-19 vaccines will continue to be required for workers in healthcare, hospitals, age care and disability care."Almost alone in the world, we were able to vaccinate a majority of our population before COVID arrived.The public health direction requiring post-arrival testing for those travelling to Queensland from overseas will also be removed.

"I once again pay tribute to the resilience of Queenslanders for the strength and response to this pandemic. We have stood shoulder to shoulder, side by side, looking after each other through the worst of times," Ms Palaszczuk said.The Sunshine State reported 4,520 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours to Friday.

More than 94.1 per cent have received one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, 92.6 per cent have received two doses and more than 1.7 million have been vaccinated against the flu this season.
