The charge, which was later dropped by prosecution, related to allegations the teacher had choked his wife, causing her to be unable to breathe, be disorientated and to feel like she lost consciousness.
A Queensland teacher who was once charged with choking his wife has had his teaching suspension lifted, a tribunal has ruled.
The complainant, who the teacher was separated from but living at the same house at the time, had alleged the attack happened after she asked him for help bathing their young children, so she could shower. The woman also told police on the night of the incident there had been previous acts of domestic violence, including that she had been strangled several times, and had been punched in the temple with a fist causing her pain for a week. The DPP later dropped the choking charge because the complainant advised prosecution she did not want to proceed.
The QCT said the woman’s demeanour appeared consistent with someone who had undergone a traumatic domestic violence incident in her home.
