Quarter of Scottish households not yet completed census

About 700,000 Scottish households have until 1 May to submit the form - or face prosecution.

Reminder letters were sent to every household in the country and field staff visited door-to-door.Scotland's constitution secretary, Angus Robertson MSP, said it was essential for every household to complete the census as it was a "legal responsibility".

"There are tens of thousands of people who have started their paperwork and their online version. There are tens of thousands who have yet to start.Image caption,Mr Robertson also said help and support was available for anyone having trouble completing the census. "There is lots of help out there. You will have received information through your front door and more will be sent out this week.NRS chief executive, Paul Lowe, added: "Thank you to the two million households who have already submitted their response."Paper forms are still available on request for those who need them."
