Jax Leatherwood, Bito Bass-Sulpizio injured but many others still give San Diego County prep football a strong class of quarterbacks
The two best senior quarterbacks in San Diego — Jax Leatherwood and Bito Bass-Sulpizio — won’t finish the season.
“Injuries are part of the game, though. He’s not sulking. He’s out at practice helping coach up the quarterbacks. He’s still contributing.Bass-Sulpizio has college options with visits to Cornell and Stanford. Most recently, San Diego State has shown interest. He’ll graduate in January from Scripps Ranch and head to Nevada, where he earned a full-ride scholarship after completing 243 of 355 passes for 3,915 yards and 52 TDs with only two interception last season while leading Scripps Ranch to a 13-1 record.
“The doctors said if I injure the shoulder again, it will require surgery and the rehab will be three months.Leatherwood also wants to be ready for spring ball at Nevada. In five games before he was hurt in a game against San Diego, Stump had completed 122 of 170 pass attempts for 1,447 yards with 16 TDs and six interceptions.
