After balcony appearance, Queen Elizabeth to miss Jubilee event | Rob Harris
The Queen has withdrawn from the St Paul’s Cathedral Service of Thanksgiving - a centrepiece of her Platinum Jubilee celebrations - after citing discomfort following her brief appearance on the Buckingham Palace balcony on Thursday.
A spokesman said: “The Queen greatly enjoyed today’s Birthday Parade and Flypast but did experience some discomfort. Just weeks ago there was doubt she would be able to take part on the weekend at all after she cancelled a string of traditional appearances,, in what the palace described as “episodic mobility issues”.
Earlier, the palace announced Prince Andrew had tested positive for coronavirus and would also not attend the Queen’s Jubilee thanksgiving service on Friday.
