Queensland Attorney General Deb Frecklington has ordered appeals against two sentences for crimes she considers 'manifestly inadequate' and 'failing to meet community expectations'. The appeals concern a juvenile who killed three people in a stolen car crash and a man who kidnapped and assaulted a young woman.
Deb Frecklington says sentences, including one for a man who wrapped a rope around a woman’s neck and forced her into a car, ‘fail to meet community expectations’ Queensland ’s attorney general has ordered state prosecutors to appeal against two sentences for crimes which she says are “manifestly inadequate”.
“The first appeal is in respect of a juvenile who crashed a stolen car near Maryborough in April 2023. This horrific incident killed three innocent people and left a fourth victim with serious injuries. In the second case, Brock Andrew McDonald, 44, pleaded guilty to charges of deprivation of liberty and assault occasioning bodily harm over a random attack on an 18-year-old woman in October 2023.
