The Queensland coroner has found a teenager drowned as a "tragic consequence" of following his adored older brother into the Ross River in Townsville, as they tried to evade police. "Mr Malayta died as a tragic consequence of following his brother into the Ross River to avoid police detection," Mr Ryan said.
Mr Malata was sober, but after "some coaxing" by his brother, left with him, with plans to cruise around the city."Mr Malayta told his sister, 'Tell mum I love her and I'll be back soon',"Mr Ryan said.Police flagged the stolen car, but did not chase the vehicle, instead setting up an operation to deflate its tyres.
