Queensland has seen another jump in its COVID numbers, with health authorities warning it will keep going up, and urging those eligible to get their booster shot.
Queensland has recorded 59 new cases of COVID-19 as the state makes a fresh plea for people to get their booster shots.
Of those cases, six are linked to a known case, while 33 under investigation, with nine new interstate acquired cases and one acquired overseas.Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk urged people to go beyond the mask mandate for some indoor spaces introduced on Saturday, and asked Queenslanders to wear masks while in all indoor spaces for the time being.
However, she did not go so far as to mandate the extra mask wearing, simply asking people to do it if they felt uncomfortable. Ms Palaszczuk also urged people to get their booster shots if they had hit five months since their second dose, to get the maximum coverage against the virus. Queensland’s Chief Health Officer John Gerrard said the state’s cases were doubling roughly every 48 hours, and warned it would likely continue on those lines for the time being.
