After its logo and quotes were used in what Labor has described as a ‘misinformation’ campaign, the peak doctors body has been forced to clear the air.
Queensland’s peak doctors group has issued a statement distancing itself from ongoing LNP claims Labor would introduce a “patients’ tax” if re-elected.
A screengrab from the LNP-authorised website voters are being referred to – despite a now bipartisan commitment from both major parties.to exempt GPs from a new interpretation of payroll tax laws which the AMAQ and Royal Australian College of General Practitioners warned would lift fees., then exemptions, arguing that even the administrative cost of restructuring during any reprieve would also be passed on to patients.
Yim said while the group was concerned the changes and related backdated bills would have meant an “end to bulk billing” and clinic closures, the recent bipartisan promise was “a great outcome”.LNP leader David Crisafulli’s office and LNP state director Ben Riley were contacted about the AMAQ’s concerns, and whether the material would be changed, but had yet to respond.
