The prime minister has dodged questions over whether he should stop accepting free flight upgrades following revelations by Joe Aston, the former columnist for The Australian Financial Review, that he received dozens of freebies. “The trip from Perth contained shadow ministers as well as ministers, the WA premier as well as shadow ministers, for the first flight promoting Australia. We travelled there and back pretty much immediately.” Ten of the upgrades on commercial flights within Australia in 2013 were during the leadership campaign that Albanese had with Bill Shorten, the prime minister said.
