The Queensland premier will unveil a new fund to fast-track housing development in urban areas across the state, incentivising developers to transform industrial zones and low-density suburbs.

Already a subscriber?Queensland Premier Steven Miles will offer up $350 million to fast-track the development of apartments and townhouses in an urgent move to boost housing supply in the state’s inner cities.will on Friday unveil a fund to cover infrastructure fees for projects in underdeveloped zones across the state to streamline new builds and encourage developers holding on to prime land to contribute housing stock.

In response to the reluctance from councils, the government said it would establish the Incentivising Infill Development Fund to cover infrastructure fees for particular projects that suitably increase density in well-located areas. “This fund will play a critical role in ensuring we have the homes needed to meet our growing population, and I know it will make a difference.”
