By next weekend, people living in the ACT will be allowed into Queensland, but only for fly-in trips. So who exactly is allowed into the sunshine state now and how will it work?
So when the new rules come into effect, who exactly will be allowed across the state's border, and how?Queensland's border has been closed to the ACT since August 8, but as of 1:00am next Friday, those restrictions will be eased.
Given the entire state of NSW remains a declared COVID-19 hotspot, people living in the ACT must fly into Queensland via plane rather than road to avoid travelling in a hotspot.Queensland's Chief Health Officer Jeannette Young has warned that ACT residents travelling via car would simply land themselves in hotel quarantine.
Just like others coming from places like South Australia and the Northern Territory, visitors will have to fill out a border declaration form, confirming they haven't been in NSW or Victoria. While the Queensland Government normally doesn't review its COVID-19 restrictions until the end of the month, Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said Dr Young had raised the issue.
