Queensland has ruled out any urgent changes being made to the state’s testing requirements for interstate travellers to cross the border, despite extensive queues at virus testing centres in NSW.
Queensland had 714 new cases on Sunday, 51 less than Christmas Day while NSW recorded 6394, a small increase on Saturday’s 6288. Victoria had 1608 new cases on Sunday, compared with 2108 on Saturday.Treasurer Cameron Dick said Queensland’s position on interstate travellers getting negative PCR tests 72 hours before arrival would be reviewed on January 1, at the earliest.
“We’ve said we’ll consider that over time and look at how the current policy position of the government may be changed from January 1, but there is no change to that position at the moment. But we will continue to monitor it and take health advice,” he said on Sunday.People in NSW and Victoria have struggled with extensive delays at testing clinics.
