Police allege the man shot and killed a 34-year-old woman while she was sitting in her car outside a Robb Place residence in South Mackay at about 4:30pm on Wednesday.

A 31-year-old man has been charged with murder and attempted murder over a shooting incident in north Queensland last night.

Two teenagers, who were in the car at the time, fled the scene. A 66-year-old man approached the alleged shooter a short time later and was shot in the hand and sternum.
