Data released by Education Queensland reveals most suspensions were meted out in years 8 and 9, but prep students weren’t immune.
Queensland schools suspended students 83,000 times last year, with grades 7, 8 and 9 reporting the highest number of disciplinary absences.
Across the three grades, there were more than 42,000 suspensions from a total of 130,758 enrolled students, some of whom accounted for multiple suspensions. The majority of the disciplinary absences across the state were boys – 60,307 compared to 22,786 girls.
