Newly published government list identifies 147 schools as having potentially dangerous concrete

The start of term has been delayed in 19 schools amid the crisis surrounding concerns about the presence of reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete .prime minister’s questions, referred to state-funded schools, maintained nursery schools and further education colleges in England.Analysis by the Guardian found that the cost of fixing secondary schools is likely to be as much as three times higher than primary schools because they are considerably larger.

“This is a long list. At least six schools in Essex were on Labour’s building list in 2010. They scrapped them and now children there are in crumbling schools,” the Labour leader said. Pupils and staff at some sites have been forced to use portable classrooms or other venues, or revert to online learning strategies developed during the Covid pandemic, and some PE blocks and ancillary rooms have been closed.
