Grinham is an eight-time medallist and is the first squash player in the history of the Games to carry the flag.
Veteran squash player Rachael Grinham and three-time hockey gold medallist Eddie Ockenden will jointly carry the flag for Australia at the Commonwealth Games opening ceremony in Birmingham.
She won gold at the Melbourne 2006 Games when she paired with her sister Natalie in the women’s doubles.The opening ceremony begins on Friday at 5am AEST . Athletes will start to compete on Friday evening AEST. He is only the second Australian hockey player, along with Knowles, to go to four Commonwealth Games.Thomas, a nine-time gold medallist, made the announcement, flanked by three previous flag bearers: weightlifter Damian Brown, netballer Sharelle McMahon and cyclist Anna Meares.
