My children suffer from ongoing racial issues at the high school that are not being effectively addressed by the school administration, staff and board.
Concerned about retaliation, I invited community members to join my family at the following board meeting. Many Lower Dauphin parents and community members came together to support our family and to help promote changes in the district. I am so grateful for all of those that were so supportive and genuinely concerned, you know who you are and thank you so much.
After bringing light to these issues the school board has never asked how our concerns could be mended. I still have a child who is not comfortable attending school and has seen no changes made in the high school. As for the students, a few students have formed a focus group in which they talks about racism which feels more like a support group.

In fact, in many ways for my children, and their friends who bravely came forward, their school experience has gotten worse. Since the article, my son and his friend have decided to stay home most days due to harassment and anxiety. Both are currently enrolled in online classes afraid for their safety.
