Discussions about the proposal picked up steam at last weekend’s regional tournament
Discussions among coaches from all parts of the state revealed the existence of a realignment plan that would separate public and non-public wrestlers at the district and region level.
The plan is still in a discussion phase, but was confirmed by multiple coaches including the New Jersey Wrestling Coaches Association president and Manalapan head coach, Scott Pressman. Its exact origin is unknown. According to coaches who have heard about the plan, it centers around the creation of four, all-non-public districts, which would feed into a new, 9th Region, which would also be non-public only.
