Sydney Trains chief executive Matt Longland said the strike would affect all rail customers, including morning and evening peak hour, due to there being fewer services.

"Although all staff will return to work at 4pm, customers will need to allow plenty of extra time while trains return to the network.Longland said there were usually 70,000 commuters on the T4 train line on a usual Wednesday. Meanwhile, from 12pm to 4pm, it said "guards, on-boarders, station staff, salaried staff, shift managers, standards and compliance, trainers, and all other members not covered in above group" would strike.The Rail, Train and Bus Union claimed TFNSW will refuse to run trains on the Illawarra and South Coast lines on Wednesday.
