Protests have erupted across Australia following Queensland's decision to pause hormone therapy access for transgender youth under 18. The state government initiated a review of evidence regarding stage one and two hormone therapies for children experiencing gender dysphoria. The pause will remain in effect until the review is completed, prompting rallies demanding its lifting.

Rallies have been held across the country to protest a pause on new trans patients under the age of 18 from accessing hormone therapies in Queensland 's public health system.

"The review will encourage the participation of clinicians and professionals with relevant expertise, as well as young people with lived experience and their families," he said. The Albanese government has ordered a review of the Australian standards of care and treatment guidelines for trans and gender-diverse children and adolescents.

Speakers took the stage from a wide range of communities, including Reverend Ruth Mathieson from the Saint Francis Theological College in Milton, whose daughter Sky is trans.
