An early script for Rambo: Last Blood pit Sylvester Stallone's Vietnam War vet against a horror movie monster similar to Predator's Yautja.

An early idea for Rambo: Last Blood had Sylvester Stallone's iconic hero fighting a genetically-engineered creature similar to Predator's Yautja. The Rambo franchise started as a rather close adaptation of David Morrell's 1972 novel First Blood, with a beaten-down John Rambo lashing out against the town that rejects him after coming back from the Vietnam War.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT After Rambo kills only one character in First Blood, his kill count jumps to 75 in First Blood Part II, 115 casualties in Rambo 3, 254 ultra-violent kills in 2008's Rambo, and finally 46 deaths in Rambo: Last Blood. This increase in violence is already a big change from the first movie, where Rambo's only goal was to survive.

Rambo V: The Savage Hunt would have been a modified adaptation of James Byron Huggins' 1999 novel Hunter, which had the exact same premise, but was led by an expert tracker called Nathaniel Hunter and his wolf Ghost.

How A Sci-Fi Rambo 5 Would Have Changed The Franchise Despite being based on an original novel, comparisons between Rambo V: The Savage Hunt and Predator would likely have been inevitable, as the basic plot would have been almost identical.

A sci-fi Rambo movie starring a new actor would help avoid comparisons with Sylvester Stallone's previous Rambo outings, as it wouldn't be tied to the character's action-fueled yet still grounded storylines. But if connecting the sci-fi concept of a genetically-engineered creature to Rambo is still a problem, Rambo V: The Savage Hunt could transform into a direct adaptation of James Byron Huggins' novel Hunter.
