The quarterback, who’s dealing with a neck injury, will miss at least the next four games with six games to play
Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford was placed on injured reserve Saturday, a move that will sideline him for the next four games and possibly for the rest of the season.
Stafford was recently cleared from the concussion protocol after being diagnosed with a neck injury. Stafford will miss Sunday’s home game against the Seattle Seahawks and the upcoming games against the Las Vegas Raiders, Green Bay Packers and Denver Broncos. He’ll be eligible to return for the final two games – against the Chargers and in Seattle in the regular-season finale – but with the postseason no longer a feasible option the Rams might decide to shut him down for the rest of the season to prioritize his health.
Stafford, 34, entered the concussion protocol for the second time this season after experiencing numbness in his legs after taking a sack during the third quarter of the Week 11 game against the New Orleans Saints. Stafford was sidelined last week against the Kansas City Chiefs because of the neck injury and missed the Week 10 matchup against the Arizona Cardinals because of a concussion.
