Investors had two immediate reactions: how would you value it, and do Ramsay shareholders want to directly own shares in a French hospitals group? Get those right, and it could be a go-er. The bankers are also thinking about a fix for the other question - about Ramsay investors directly owning Sante shares.

Ramsay has plenty of small investors to think about - 75,901 of them with 5000 shares or less at September last year. While that’s most of the company’s investors by number, it only represented about 16 per cent of the issued capital.
