AUSTIN — Randolph freshman Taylor Nunez arrived at UT’s Myers Stadium Thursday morning in rather unassuming fashion.And 12 hours later, with four gold medals, a state meet record and big hand on the team championship trophy, the 14-year-old was the talk of the first day of the UIL state track and field championships.“I think it’s a good thing that people are noticing my accomplishments, and they want to see me shine as much as I want to see myself shine,” Nunez said.
With her four golds and four medals from fellow freshman Briana St. Louis, the Ro-Hawks rolled to the Class 3A team championship with 84 points. Fairfield was second with 59. St. Louis ran with Nunez as part of the Ro-Hawks’ win in the 400 relay. She also had two silvers - one in the triple jump and the other running anchor in the 800 relay . Her bronze was in the 100 dash as she shared the podium with Nunez.
