Football Insider has been told by Alan Hutton that Rangers will feel they can progress out of the group stage of the Europa League this year.
Rangers will progress through the group stages of the Europa League., former Gers defender Alan Hutton said that their opening game against Real Betis on 21 September is “massive”.
The Light Blues dropped into the Europa League after losing out in the second leg of their Champions League play-off to PSV Eindhoven.and were placed in a group alongside Betis, Aris Limassol and Sparta Prague. The new boss will be hoping for a repeat of the last time Rangers found themselves in the Europa League when they progressed all the way to the final only to be beaten on penalties by Eintracht Frankfurt.
The Gers enjoyed a successful campaign last time round, beating teams like Borussia Dortmund in their run to the final.When asked for his thoughts on the draw, Hutton toldThe first game is Betis at home which is a massive game and they want to get off to a good start. I think ultimately they will fancy their chances.Yes it is going to be difficult, all European competitions are but they will feel that it is a group they can come through.
