Football Insider has been told by sources that Tony Weston has agreed to join Derby County on a free transfer following the expiration of his Rangers deal.
Tony Weston has agreed a deal to join Derby County on a free transfer after leaving Rangers,The striker, 19, is a free agent after his contract at Ibrox expired at the end of June.
Rangers signed Weston from Blackpool in the summer of 2020 and after impressing for the Ibrox club’s B Team he spent last season on loan at Partick Thistle and Cove Rangers. Weston made his only first-team appearance for Rangers against Hearts in May last year as a late substitute. The striker made 31 appearances for Cove across all competitions last season but was in the starting lineup for just two of those outings.
Of his 26 Championship appearances, Weston played less than 400 minutes of football and failed to find the back of the net in the league and scored just one goal across all competitions.
