Sunday’s NBA All-Star game in Cleveland featured a little more star power than usual.
In two separate stints with the Mavericks , Kidd posted 21 triple-doubles in 500 career games with Dallas. Kidd is currently fourth on the NBA’s all-time triple-double list with 107. While Kidd didn’t post insane stat lines like he did earlier in his career, he was a key contributor throughout the long playoff run. He hit pivotal shots to help cap off many wins, he spent time defending star guards such as Russell Westbrook and Dwyane Wade and facilitated much of the Mavericks’ offense.“Kidd managed to be a dominant force for almost two decades without ever scoring like a star, finishing his career second all time in both assists and steals.
Many fans, and probably Nowitzki and Nash themselves, still wonder what could have been had Nash returned to Dallas in 2004-05.“Nash pushed the pace — and the NBA into the modern era of up-tempo play — and it’s sort of a shame he didn’t play in this generation.
