A rare Southern California tornado ripped through the community of Montebello late Wednesday morning, damaging several buildings and injuring one person.
Southern California communityThe National Weather Service Office in Los Angeles said that the rare twister was an EF1, a measurement on the Enhanced Fujita Scale that indicates it had winds of 86 to 110 mph.
Alex Gillman, a spokesman for the city, said one person was hurt and taken to the hospital. He did not know the severity of the injury. Damage to a building is seen on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, in Montebello, California, after a possible tornado.
