Coach Kevin Guy said it would take Rattler Nation to help his team win the biggest game of the year — a 52-43 victory Sunday at Footprint Center that clinched a home field in first round of the Indoor Football League playoffs.With 32 seconds left and the game already decided, chaos broke out. Pirates defensive back Leon O'Neal Jr., feeling provoked by something he heard, jumped over the sideline board near where the team area is placed and went up several rows to confront a fan.
"I tell you what happend, Rattler Nation got after them," Guy said in the post-game news conference."They broke them. They couldn't handle the pressure." The Rattlers , who have won seven in row, kept their composure in the end. They stayed away from the crowd where Pirates went into the stands. That's been key to some of their endings this season. Stay calm. Staying disciplined.
"It's out of my hands," Guy said."The commissioner will look at that and make decisions and see what happens. But you can't go in the stands. We want our fans to have a great time. We love the energy that they bring. At the same time, somebody couldn't take it." Drew Powell threw touchdown passes of 20 and 25 yards and ran for a score, and running back Morian Walker Jr., leaped over the pile and into the end zone for a 1-yard TD during the quarter.
