Sky News host Peta Credlin says yesterday’s RBA decision to lift the interest rate to 0.35 per cent might get Australians to focus on “proven competence versus personal character”.

“Who do you reckon is better placed to manage the economic difficulties ahead: an experienced prime minister who was previously a treasurer, and a treasurer who’s competently handled the pandemic,” Ms Credlin said.

“Or an unknown opposition leader who’s never had an economic portfolio, and that bloke you saw before, the shadow treasurer, his main claim to fame is he was a chief of staff to Wayne Swan. “For me, it’s very hard to think that the best person placed to manage this interest rate rise … is the very same bloke who didn’t know what the interest rate was a couple of weeks ago.”
