Manchester City striker Erling Haaland was spoken about in comparison to Kylian Mbappe, who Real Madrid could be looking to sign
Erling Haaland has been told that Kylian Mbappe is more suited to Real Madrid by one of the club's board members.
The Norwegian chose to sign for Manchester City last summer ahead of the Spanish giants after a detailed decision process and ended up being an integral part of the Blues side that knocked Real out of the Champions League on the way to winning an historic Treble. As reported in the Manchester Evening News, City and the player are happy enough with how things are going to be planning talks over a new contract.
The 23-year-old has been open about his desire to play in a number of the best European leagues though, and Real are best placed to sign Haaland if and when he does choose to leave the Etihad. However, the La Liga heavyweights cannot wait around for when that day will be and are expected to be in the mix to sign PSG star Kylian Mbappe next summer when his contract runs out.
Jose Manuel Otero, one of 12 Real executives on their board supporting president Florentino Perez and his three vice-presidents, talked up their hopes of signing Mbappe this summer. And when asked about the possibility of adding Haaland as well at some point, he suggested that Mbappe was the better pick.
"Mbappé is better suited to Real Madrid's game than Haaland," he said. "Haaland demands that the entire team play for him so that he can score. Madrid has to open defences with tremendously skilled players."
