RSL remained in Utah over the weekend preparing for Wednesday’s trip to Houston and a U.S. Open Cup Semifinal match at Shell Energy Stadium. That game will air on CBS Sports GOLAZO and Telemundo at 7:30p MT.
Hurricane Hilary was downgraded to a Category 2 storm as it headed for Mexico’s Baja California peninsula over the weekend, according to the U.S. National Hurricane Center. But meteorologists expected the storm to bring “catastrophic and life-threatening flooding” to the peninsula and to the southwestern United States, where it was forecast to cross the border as a tropical storm on Sunday.
The storm was expected to enter the history books as the first tropical storm to hit Southern California in 84 years. Forecasters said the storm could bring heavy rainfall to the southwestern United States, dumping 3 to 6 inches in places, with isolated amounts of up to 10 inches, in portions of southern California and southern Nevada.
