Pakistan completed their highest successful run chase in history to level the one-day series with Australia.
A dynamic century from Pakistan captain Babar Azam has driven Pakistan to a record-breaking victory against Australia and levelled the one-day series at one all.
Azam’s hundred, the first by a Pakistan captain in a one-day match against Australia, overshadowed Ben McDermott’s maiden ODI century in just his fourth game, 104 off 108 balls.“It was very bitter-sweet,” McDermott said about making a hundred in a losing side. “I thought we did enough with the bat.” “We need to bowl better. We need to be able to defend that,” McDermott said. “Maybe we look at batting second.“The dew does play a little bit of a factor here. We saw a couple of our bowlers slip a bit and I actually slipped in the outfield and missed a couple of runs. We might need to change there.The third and deciding one-day match is also in Lahore starting on Saturday night, with a Twenty20 game on Wednesday morning Australian time finishing the historic tour.
The big difference from Australia’s remarkable 88-run win two days earlier with a depleted side was the way Pakistan treated Australia’s leading white ball spinner Adam Zampa.Captain Aaron Finch shuffled through seven bowlers with none making an impact on the flat surface.
