Three United States Marines have been killed after their aircraft crashed off the Northern Territory coast.

Royal Darwin Hospital has activated a code brown, the highest emergency response that can be activated. Three US marines were killed and another 20 were injured - including five taken to hospital in serious condition, when the aircraft crashed on Melville Island, 80km north of Darwin, on Sunday morning.
