Eight Spanish-language freestyle rappers will compete in free Red Bull Batalla exhibition competition at Paper Tiger.
Eight rappers, including Jordi Esparza from Austin, will compete in the bracket-style tournament. Omar"Fluffy the Host" Cadena will host the competition, and the DJ will be DJ Lobo from the Dallas-based rap battle league Urban Rapstars.The night also will include Red Bull cocktails and a barber shop pop-up where audience members can get free cuts from San Antonio barbers including Sergio Barron, Adrian Barron, Faded Culgure, Kurly Kutz and Koo Kutz Barber Shop.
Red Bull Batalla has provided a global stage for Spanish language rappers since 2005. A regional qualifier for the 2023 competition will take place in Houston in the summer, followed by the national finals in November. Winners from the U.S. and nine other countries, including Mexico, Spain, Colombia and Argentina, will compete in the world finals in December.
