The Red Cross is providing those families with emergency assistance for temporary lodging, food, clothing and other immediate needs.
In the weeks ahead, Red Cross caseworkers will continue to help the residents by working with community partners to ensure they receive the resources they need to recover from this disaster, a press release said.
Earlier Wednesday, the Red Cross supported an evacuation center at East Fairview Church of the Brethren in the immediate aftermath of the explosion.
