As many people hunkered down at home on Easter Sunday morning, Australian Red Cross volunteers arrived at a Brisbane building, poised to hit the phones to check on those in forced hotel quarantine or voluntary self-isolation.

"We're really proud of our volunteers," said Collin Sivalingum, Australian Red Cross Queensland state manager of emergency services. "What we're finding is we're providing calm for them," one leader instructs her team during Sunday morning's briefing.
