Surprise! Red Dead Redemption is heading to the Nintendo Switch & PS4 next week RedDeadRedemption NintendoSwitch PS4 RockstarGames
The surprise announcement revealed that the critically acclaimed game that sees you take on the role of cowboy John Marston will be available on a Nintendo machine for the first time from August 17. It’ll also mark the first time that the first game has been available natively on the PlayStation 4, as previously it was only on a Sony system for the PlayStation 3. If that wasn’t enough, there’ll also be a physical version that’s said to land on October 13.
In case you’re unfamiliar, Red Dead Redemption puts you in the shoes of one John Marston, a former outlaw who’s forced to round up the members of his former gang and bring them to justice in order to ensure the freedom of his wife and child. Undead Nightmare meanwhile, gives proceedings a horror turn as zombies invade the Wild West.
There’s one downside – in that this package will just feature the game’s singleplayer campaigns and won’t have any multiplayer, but it’s a small price to pay for what’s considered one of the best open world games of the time. It’s also a belated way for fans of RDR2 to experience the original game in new ways – although at the time of writing there’s no word on whether Red Dead Redemption 2 will be available on Switch at a later time.
