In the wake of yet another devastating alleged domestic homicide, criminologist Dr Xanthe Mallett has called for tougher bail laws and increased measures to protect victims.

The recent death of Molly Ticehurst , allegedly killed by her ex-partner Daniel Billings , has highlighted the need for a revised judicial process to prevent further tragedies.

Dr Xanthe Mallett has said the judiciary should look very closely at who they're bailing in domestic cases. Picture: Sky News Australia “I've looked at a lot of domestic violence and domestic homicide cases – it never goes from 0 to 100,” she said. “I think the judiciary need to look very closely at who they're bailing and the history of these alleged offenders,” she said.

Molly's father, Tony, has said: “Someone’s got to be responsible. If they’d have kept him in jail as the police wanted, we wouldn’t be having this conversation”.
