Reddit launched a local sales team in Australia in 2021 and has grown from $1 million to $7.3 million in its first full year.
Social platform Reddit has quietly axed the role of its local boss just 18 months after installing an Australian figurehead, but says Australia remains a priority market as figures show it grew advertising revenue more than 600 per cent last year.reported Reddit was planning to go public as early as the second half of this year – the company has in effect made its Australian unit a sales outpost., left the business earlier this year.
“Since we launched in Australia in 2021, we’ve tripled the team on the ground and remain focused on building our local offering so that more Australian users and brands can find their home on Reddit,” a Reddit spokesman said.In December, the platform hired a new Asia Pacific and emerging markets growth boss, Durgesh Kaushik.
He was also involved in the platform pulling out of the global “programmatic” advertising market, which connects open exchanges that automate the bidding and buying process for ad spots on websites.Instead, companies need to deal with Reddit’s sales teams directly to buy advertising within its websites.
