“He may not be long, but he has explosion to create that penetration,” A&M coach Jimbo Fisher said. “You can be long all you want, but if you’re long and four feet back … I’d rather be short and four feet up, because of the angles it takes away.Regis, whose parents are from the Caribbean island of Saint Lucia and who is deeply proud of his family lineage, was a three-star signee now surrounded by a sea of five-star defensive linemen at A&M.
“And I know I have people beside me who came to do the same thing. … It’s all about the grit you have when it comes to this game.” “The secret is there is no secret,” Regis said of the art of blocking a field goal. “You take every rep as serious as you can and as hard as you can for within those three to six seconds. We got the knock-back we needed, I stuck my hand up and by the grace of God my hand was right there when the ball came — and we blocked it.”
“My wife and I have two daughters, one who was in junior high at the time and the other was in elementary school, and Albert would always take the time to talk to them and talk to my wife, always very respectfully. To this day I talk to him all the time.”
