U.S. Army Cpl. Leo J. Barlosky, 24, was from Audenried, a village in Carbon County, between Hazleton and McAdoo.
In late 1941, he was a member of the 7th Chemical Company, Aviation, when Japanese forces invaded the Philippine Islands. Intense fighting continued until the surrender of the Bataan peninsula on April 9, 1942.
According to prison camp and other historical records, Barlosky died July 27, 1942, and was buried along with other deceased prisoners in the local Cabanatuan Camp Cemetery in Common Grave 225.
