A one bedroom, one-bathroom apartment in the harbourside suburb of Double Bay has sold nearly half a million dollars above its reserve price.Bidding opened up at $1.52m, followed by a highly competitive auction that saw 45 bids starting in large increments.
The bidders were mainly downsizers which included young couples looking to get their foot in the door of the Eastern Suburbs.The successful bid was at $2.005m, successfully being awarded to downsizers from a nearby suburb. Bought to market by McGrath Paddington agent Georgia Cleary and auctioned by Scott Kennedy Green, the ground floor garden apartment was within walking distance to Double Bay Village.“The owners trusted in the auction process and listened to our feedback and advice. They were also flexible with settlement arrangements.”Mr Kennedy Green said the auction result was remarkable given the competitive nature of the buyers.
“Multiple registrations saw competitive bidding for the blue-chip address. We’re on the doorstep of the spring selling season and this result is certainly showing that quality property is still well sought after.” Elsewhere, a renovated family home in the Hills District has broken its reserve price at auction over the weekend.. The auction saw seven registered bidders, with four actively bidding.Listed by Louis Carr Glenhaven agents Adrian Epifanino and Dean Muriti, the bidding on the property started at $1.7m and gradually rose to the final price of $2.23m.
