The Promenade Mall, now a ghost mall facing demolition, was once a destination for high-end goods, dining, and creating good vibes in Woodland Hills.
I was feeling a twinge of déjà vu last Sunday as I pulled my car into a ghost town that had once been the crown jewel of Warner Center in Woodland Hills — the Promenade Mall opening in March 1973.
I had spent 25 years looking for columns at this once-packed mall just a few blocks from the old Daily News building, which is now a huge apartment complex. I’d grab a cup of coffee, take a seat and people watch. Sooner or later, tomorrow’s column would walk by. Robinson’s, her anchor store 49 years ago when she was built, had already moved out along with Bullocks, Saks Fifth Avenue, and finally Macy’s, which hung on until 2015.
