NT Health Minister Natasha Fyles said authorities were concerned by COVID-positive wastewater detected in Beswick, Barunga and Alice Springs.
"Those measures that we put in place have been put in place to protect that community," he said.
Ms Fyles said authorities had also detected COVID-positive wastewater at several locations in Katherine. Residents in Katherine, Binjari, Rockhole and Warlpiri Camp must continue to monitor their health and get tested if they feel symptoms, she said.Wastewater in the Gillen and Northside catchments in Alice Springs has also tested positive to COVID-19, Ms Fyles said.
Ms Fyles said at this stage authorities "[couldn't] explain" the results, although they could have come from people undertaking home quarantine in Alice Springs who have COVID-19 but had not yet tested positive.
