A shortage of bus drivers is cited as the reason the X1 service in Hamilton cannot be reinstated

Renewed calls are being made by cross-party politicians for the reinstatement of a much-missed direct bus service from Lanarkshire to Glasgow.

She told Lanarkshire Live: “If all that is stopping the people of Hamilton being properly served by a daytime express service to Glasgow is driver shortages, then every effort must be made by the Scottish Government to find a workable solution. “While I disagree with the decisions taken by First Glasgow which led to the X1 being axed, I’m willing to work with them and anyone who is interested in making sure our communities have the bus services they need.”

By-election candidate Ms Loudon last weekend paid a campaign visit to Hillhouse and now wants to see further discussions with First Bus following previous representations by her SNP colleagues when the service first came under threat.
