Five Waratahs players have been named in their first official Wallabies squad as new national coach Dave Rennie announced his 44-man group for the upcoming Rugby Championship | tomdecent

For the Waratahs, Harrison, Ramm, Bell, Tom Horton and Lachie Swinton have all earned call-ups for the first time, along with Jake Gordon, Ned Hanigan, Michael Hooper, Harry Johnson-Holmes, Jack Maddocks and Rob Simmons.Meanwhile, Queensland Reds hooker Brandon Paenga-Amosa and centre Hunter Paisami have forced their way into the group after missing out on last month’s players of national interest squad.

Front row: Jermaine Ainsley , Allan Alaalatoa , Angus Bell*, Pone Fa’amausili*, Harry Johnson-Holmes , Scott Sio , James Slipper, Taniela Tupou , Folau Fainga’a , Tom Horton*, Brandon Paenga-Amosa , Jordan Uelese .Back row: Michael Hooper , Lachie Swinton*, Rob Valetini , Liam Wright , Fraser McReight*, Pete Samu , Harry Wilson*.Halves: Jake Gordon , Tate McDermott*, Joe Powell , Nic White , Will Harrison*, Noah Lolesio*, James O'Connor , Matt To’omua .

“There’s a big game to come on Saturday night down in Canberra but personally, I’m really looking forward to getting out on the grass in a week’s time to start putting in the work together.“When we picked the squad, we had to consider how we will handle the rigours of the Test calendar ahead. It is obviously a big squad which is due to COVID restrictions as we can’t bring players in and out but each of one them is there on merit.
