"No fault" evictions will be banned, application fees scrapped and the cost of breaking a lease capped to four weeks' rent under new reforms proposed by the Victoria n government.Under the planned reforms, which will be introduced to the Victoria n parliament over the next 12 months, landlords will no longer be able to evict tenants on fixed-term agreements for no reason.

It wants to disincentivise the practice by banning landlords from evicting tenants after the end of their first fixed term without a reason. Finally, the Allan government has vowed to change the law so that any renter who loses a security fob or electronic key must be provided with a spare if they request it.Minister for Consumer Affairs Gabrielle Williams said the reforms would put "more money in the pockets of renters".
